Doug LaFrenier recently retired from the American Institute of Physics, where he held positions as director of marketing and director of sales. He currently consults for society publishers, specializing in sales and licensing issues. He previously worked for Macmillan, McGraw-Hill, W. H. Freeman and Robert Ubell Associates, a publishing consulting firm. A former Board member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, LaFrenier has spoken frequently at meetings of SSP, SLA, and the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives, as well as the Charleston Conference. He is co-author of the forthcoming Handbook of Journal Publishing from Cambridge University Press (January 2013).
